Keys to a fulfilling and <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

God-glorifying Marriage<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

If we want to glorify God and also be blessed by Him, we must obey and conform to His Word. Jesus said, “Blessed is he who hears the Word of God and obeys it.” Luke 11:28… Consider how the following Biblical principles can both glorify God and make you marriage very fulfilling.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/p>\n

1. Always possess the benevolent, self-sacrificing attitude of Christ toward your spouse.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Colossians 3:12-14 – <\/span>12 And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put <\/span>on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other<\/span>, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. NASB<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Deny yourself. Selfishness and Pride are the enemies of marriage. <\/span>Luke 9:23, 1 Cor 13:5<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Be subject to one another out of reverence<\/u> for Christ – <\/span>Eph 5:21, 1 Pet 5:5<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Prefer one another above yourself  – <\/span>Phil 2:3-5, Rom 12:10<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Concentrate on cherishing your spouse and working to meet their needs.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ephesians 5:29<\/span> – 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, <\/span>but nourishes and cherishes it<\/span>, just as Christ also does the church, NAS<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Love you spouse with a sincere and genuine love from the heart – <\/span>Rom 12:9<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ask God for an increasing profound devotion to your spouse – <\/span>Matt 7:7-8<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Serve one another in love.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Galatians 5:13 – <\/span>13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but <\/span>through love serve one another<\/span>. NASB<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Action – Do the work of service – <\/span>Prov 31:12, Eph 5:29<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Sacrifice your own comfort and pleasure for your spouse’s benefit – <\/span>Phil 2:4<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

4. Voice your approval, acceptance, and praise of your spouse often.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Proverbs 31:28-29<\/span> – 28 <\/span>Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her<\/span>, saying:  29 "Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all." NASB<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Communicate your genuine love to your spouse, they need to hear – <\/span>Isa 62:4<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Love cries out to be shared, your spouse desires to possess your love <\/span>Song 7:1-10<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Invest in your marriage<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Romans 12:10-11 – <\/span>10 <\/span>Be devoted to one another in brotherly love<\/span>; give preference to one another in honor; NASB<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>It is the most important relationship in your life – <\/span>Eph 5:28, Prov 14:1, 24:3-4, Eccl 10:18<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Time is worth more than “things”, your spouse\/marriage needs your time – <\/span>Prov 17:1<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Read a good book on marriage every year<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

6. Learn to enjoy and delight in your spouse. Treasure your spouse.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Proverbs 5:18-19<\/span> – 18 Let your fountain be blessed, And <\/span>rejoice in the wife of your youth<\/span>. 19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; <\/span> Be exhilarated always with her love<\/span>. <\/span>NASB<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Be grateful to God and adore your spouse, he\/she is a gift from Him – <\/span>1 Thes 5:18<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Thank God continually for your spouse <\/span>Prov 31:10<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Be delightful and enjoyable. If you want your spouse to delight in you, be delightful.  <\/span>Prov 17:17, 27:9<\/span>    (Is your love exhilarating?)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

7. Allow Christ’s love and grace to transform you. Does your marriage glorify God?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – <\/span>4 <\/span>Love is patient, love is kind<\/span>, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 <\/span>bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails<\/span>; NASB<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Set your minds on being changed into Christ’s likeness in your home <\/span>Col 3:1-2<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Is this the kind of love that you have to your spouse? Why not?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
